Helping single people in East Anglia through supported accommodation and lodgings enabling them to develop skills to gain independence

‘Stephen’ came to Solo Housing when his marriage broke down and he was in need of support with coping with life. ‘Stephen’ was a heavy drinker and Solo supported him to receive professional alcohol reduction assistance from Turning Point, as a result he managed to reduce his alcohol intake which, in turn, made a big difference to his mental health.

‘Stephen’s’ support worker also supported him with self-care skills and budgeting. Using these newly gained budgeting skills ‘Stephen’ was able to set aside money each month to use towards his move on costs and started planning for his future.

After being supported to register on Gateway to Home Choice ‘Stephen’ started bidding weekly for social housing and was offered a flat, which he accepted, and he now has a permanent home.
