Helping single people in East Anglia through supported accommodation and lodgings enabling them to develop skills to gain independence

‘Audrey’, an elderly lady, was referred to our lodgings scheme as she was sleeping in her car for a few weeks. Her partner of several years had passed away and as the property they had lived in had been owned by him, the lady had no right to remain and his family sold the property, leaving her with nothing except her car and her belongings.

‘Audrey’ was unable to afford petrol or food and so the Lodgings Officer applied for some funding to buy her some food while he was searching for suitable accommodation. The Lodgings Officer made regular visits to her car to make sure she was safe and well and at the same time a referral was made to the Solo Supported Housing team where she was successfully placed.
